Step 2: Set the 'Import using' as 'MP3 Encoder' and choose your preferred audio quality. SO, I'm wondering if there is a way to easily take all songs stored in iTunes and convert them to mp3s in a seperate folder, so that just in case a computer crashes, or you want to transfer these songs to a different computer, you can do so without having the iTunes affiliation with the actual audio files? I.e. Go to the menu Music > Preferences > Files > Import Settings. This was extremely frustrating because I think a lot of the purpose of buying music nowadays, at least form a selfish point of view, is the ownership over the files, and the ability to organize them. ![]() ![]() However, when I transferred my iTunes to a new computer, many of my playlists got messed up, and songs my brother purchased on his iTunes account I couldn't play at all and had to repurchase. I have a ton of iTunes music, and I keep it in iTunes for the sake of organizing it.
